This stimulates the production of endorphins, the body's own natural painkillers. During a therapeutic massage the nervous system is calmed and soothed and can envelop you in an overall feeling of well-being which makes it a great way to combat symptoms of stress.

Therapeutic Massage is one of the best ways to treat many of the commonest modern-day ailments, such as stress, lack of energy, repetitive strain injury, sleeplessness, fatigue, headaches and backaches. Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils found in plants, flowers and trees to promote and maintain health. As well as the benefits derived from their smells, many essential oils have important chemical properties as well, such as anti-inflammatory, anti-septic or anti-bacterial effects. Used in conjunction with therapeutic massage, the body's natural healing process is triggered by increasing the lymphatic flow and blood circulation.

The aromas act on the nervous system as well as the emotional centre in the brain which governs the way we feel. Each treatment is specifically blended for the individual client, since no two people are alike. Home treatments are also available. Back to list of therapies.

Reflexology

Reflexology is an ancient Chinese & Egyptian technique which views illness as a result of blocked energy in the body. All the body's organs are mirrored in the feet. Reflexology detects the blocked energy channels and by applying pressure to those points the body's energy balance can be restored.

Having located any imbalances or blockages, the reflexologist can help trigger the body's own healing powers. This creates an overall effect of well-being and relaxation, making reflexology particularly effective for stress-related problems. Back to list of therapies.

Shiatsu

Literally translated shi means "finger" and atsu means "pressure". In a Shiatsu treatment, the practitioner applies pressure with hands, thumbs and sometimes knees and feet, along energy channels known as meridians. By working along meridians, the practitioner enables energy to move to the places in need and disperses it from where it is congested, restoring balance to the whole body.

Shiatsu strengthens the vital organs and prevents energy from getting blocked in the body. An imbalance in a person's vital energy flow (known as ki in Japanese) may manifest in many ways, including headache, back problems, insomnia or even mental depression. Back to list of therapies.

Ayurvedic Marma Massage

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian technique used to rebalance the whole human system. It has been used in Asia for over 5000 years. Ayurveda teaches that everythin, including human bodies, are made up of the 5 elements (ether, wind, fire, water and earth) and identifies that each fo us has one or more dominant element controlling our bodily functions, known as our dosha.

By identifying our specific dosha we can work with our bodies through diet and lifestyle to rebalance and achieve a feeling of wellbeing. Massage plays an important role as aches and pains are caused by obstructions to the flow of energy through thier carrying vessels. By focusing on the marmas (acupressure points), blockages are released and energy can flow freely through the body.

Regular massage relaxes the muscles, nerves, bones and the whole body, allowing you to benefit from improved circulation and digestion, lymphatic drainage and a body that feels energised. Back to list of therapies.
